Okanagan
Orchard country between Kelowna and Vernon, framed by four lakes.
The Area
Lake Country sits on the Highway 97 bench between Kelowna and Vernon, a fast growing district wrapped around Wood, Kalamalka, Okanagan and Ellison Lakes.
Orchards and vineyards still cover much of the district's rolling benchland, and communities like Carr's Landing and Oyama sit right on the water between Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake, among the most photographed lakes in the Okanagan for their turquoise colour.
The Okanagan Rail Trail, a converted former CN rail bed, runs the length of Lake Country and connects walkers and cyclists toward both Kelowna and Vernon, and Beasley Park and the district's public beaches give lake access without Kelowna's crowds.
Kelowna International Airport sits within Lake Country's boundaries, keeping the district well connected despite its small town feel, and newer subdivisions have grown steadily as buyers look for Okanagan lake life at a relative discount to Kelowna proper.
