BC North
Northern BC's hub city, where two rivers and two highways meet.
The Area
Prince George anchors the entire northern half of the province, a university and forestry city built where the Fraser and Nechako Rivers converge at the crossing of Highways 16 and 97.
The city grew up on the timber trade, and forestry still runs through its economy alongside a growing health, education and government sector. Downtown and the Crescents keep an older, walkable character near Connaught Hill Park, while College Heights climbs the south side around the University of Northern British Columbia and the College of New Caledonia, drawing students, faculty and young families to newer housing stock.
North along Highway 97, Hart Highlands and the Hart Highway have become the city's fastest growing area, with newer subdivisions, big box retail and easy highway access. Spruceland and the VLA neighbourhoods hold established, affordable homes closer to the centre, and Westwood rounds out the south side with a mix of newer construction.
As the largest city between Kamloops and Alaska, Prince George offers a full slate of services, a regional airport and CN Centre's arena and events, all at a fraction of coastal prices. For buyers who want genuine northern BC living with real amenities, it is hard to match.
