Fraser Valley
A riverside city where the commuter rail line ends.
The Area
Climbing the north bank of the Fraser River across from Abbotsford, Mission is the eastern terminus of the West Coast Express, a small city with a big river view and a fast growing edge.
Mission City's compact downtown sits right at the West Coast Express station, putting Vancouver's Waterfront Station within a single commuter train ride, while the Mission Bridge carries Highway 11 across the Fraser to Abbotsford. Above downtown, the hillside towers of Westminster Abbey and the West Heights neighbourhood look out over the whole valley.
East of downtown, Hatzic and its lake draw cabin owners and anglers along the Lougheed Highway, and the agricultural benchland above it remains some of the Fraser Valley's most productive farm country. To the west, Silverdale is one of the region's designated growth areas, with new master planned neighbourhoods rising around Silverdale Creek.
Further east, the rural community of Steelhead and the Stave Falls dam area give Mission a genuinely quiet, forested edge, popular with buyers wanting acreage within commuting distance. Mission's mix of riverfront views, small city pace and West Coast Express access makes it one of the Fraser Valley's better value plays for Metro Vancouver commuters.
