BC North
A Skeena River forestry town at the gateway to the Nass Valley.
The Area
Terrace sits on the Skeena River in northwest BC, a forestry and service hub for a wide area that stretches from the Nisga'a Nass Valley to the coast at Prince Rupert.
Highway 16, the Yellowhead, runs directly through town, connecting Terrace to Prince Rupert to the west and Smithers and Prince George to the east, and the Skeena and Kalum Rivers give the area some of the province's best steelhead and salmon fishing.
Forestry has shaped the local economy for generations, alongside growing mining and LNG related activity along the coast, and Shames Mountain offers a small, locally loved ski hill a short drive from downtown.
Housing remains attainable relative to almost anywhere in southern BC, and the surrounding mountains, rivers and Nisga'a territory give Terrace an outdoor lifestyle that draws both lifelong northerners and newcomers looking for real value.
