Grand estates on leafy winding boulevards
Laid out by the Canadian Pacific Railway in the early 1900s as a refined alternative to the West End, Shaughnessy was planned for the city's most prosperous families. Landscape architect Frederick Todd, who helped shape New York's Central Park, gave it broad tree-lined boulevards and gently curving streets. Today it remains a stately enclave of large estate homes and towering mature trees.
