The Area
Burlington occupies the western end of Lake Ontario with the Niagara Escarpment rising behind it, a combination that gives the city both a genuine waterfront and protected green space at its northern edge.
Downtown meets the lake at Spencer Smith Park, where the waterfront trail, the pier and the Brant Street strip of restaurants form the centre of the city. Aldershot sits to the west near the Royal Botanical Gardens, and Roseland holds some of the most established streets south of the QEW.
North Burlington climbs toward the Escarpment through Millcroft, Headon Forest and Alton Village, which is the newest large community and where much of the family housing supply has been added. Mount Nemo and Rattlesnake Point conservation areas sit on the Escarpment above.
Three GO stations and the QEW, 403 and 407 all serve the city, putting Toronto and Hamilton both within easy reach. Burlington regularly ranks among the best mid sized cities in Canada to live in, and prices reflect it.
