Vaughan

Vaughan sits immediately north of Toronto and is really several distinct communities under one city, from the Italian Canadian heart of Woodbridge to the gallery village of Kleinburg.

The Vaughan Metropolitan Centre is the newest piece: the TTC subway extension reached it in 2017 and a cluster of towers and offices has risen around the station, giving a suburban city an actual downtown for the first time.

Woodbridge holds the largest concentration of established housing and a strong Italian Canadian community along Market Lane. Maple sits in the centre near Canada's Wonderland and the Vaughan hospital, Thornhill runs along the Toronto border, and Kleinburg in the northwest keeps a village main street and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Highways 400, 407 and 427 all cross the city and the subway now runs to downtown Toronto. Housing skews large and detached, with the newer high rise supply concentrated at the Metropolitan Centre and along Highway 7.
